Personal profile

Yin Xuebin, male, born in 1978, Ph.D., and Distinguished Professor. At present, he is the president of Shanxi Research Institute of Functional Agriculture, director of Key Laboratory of Functional Agriculture of Suzhou Research Institute of University of Science and Technology of China, director of the National Technical Innovation Center for Grain Industry (Functional Rice) and the National Innovation Center for Functional Coarse Cereals, academic director of Key Laboratory of selenium-rich product development and quality control of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Areas, and vice-chairman of International Selenium Research Association, executive chairman of Xiangshan Science Conference of Functional Agriculture, deputy leader of the working group for the formulation and revision of soil selenium related national standards. He was the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 1st to 6th International Conference on Selenium, Environment and Human Health, the co-sponsor of the International NBP program, and the international consultant of functional agriculture research of agricultural innovation center of Thai Academy of Sciences. He participated in the establishment and academic work of Shanxi Research Institute of functional agriculture, China (South) selenium-rich functional agriculture research center, and Guangxi selenium-rich agricultural center. In 2010, he won the support of Suzhou leading talents. In 2011 and 2016, he was selected as the fifth batch of 333 talents (discipline leaders) in Jiangsu Province and won the first batch of "top ten leading talents in Jiangsu grain industry" in 2013.

Dr. Yin Xuebin, with Academician Zhao Qiguo, founder of functional agriculture, has long focused on the research and the new direction of functional agriculture. More than 100 papers, related theories, and works on functional agriculture have been published in domestic and foreign journals, including more than 50 SCI/EI papers, 7 co-authored monographs, and 5 in English. It includes the first monograph in this field, Functional Agriculture and Phytoremediation and Bio portion: Two Sides of One Coin, published by Springer publishing house, and the first drafting of industry standards of Selenium Rich Agricultural Products, and wrote 20 local and enterprise standards for functional agriculture. He has made several contributions to constructing the new functional agriculture disciplines, including theoretical and standard systems, industrial applications, and international cooperation.

Main Research directions

1. Functional agriculture as a new discipline. Together with Academician Zhao Qiguo, To promote the development of a new functional agriculture discipline in China. This direction mainly focuses on the transmission law and regulation technology of selenium, zinc, and other beneficial elements in the chain of " "soil-fertilizer-crop (animal)-food-human body."

2. Study on the release of beneficial elements at the rock-soil interface. The research group focuses on the release of selenium, zinc, and other beneficial elements in the cropland environment of different geological strata outcropping areas in China.

3. Study on the transport of beneficial elements in the soil-crop system. The study focuses on the transportation of selenium, zinc, and other trace elements from soil to representative crops and the absorption and accumulation characteristics of these target elements by representative crops.

Overview of Teaching and Research

He has long been engaged in the research work of functional agriculture and the transport law of beneficial elements in the soil-crop system. He has presided over 10 projects such as the "Agricultural Valley" Special Project of Shanxi Provincial Department of Agriculture (2017.09-2019.12), Major Functional Agriculture Special Project of Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology (2017.09-2019.12), Major Special Project of Technical Standards and Demonstration of Selenium Enrichment in Guangxi Autonomous Region (2017.09-2020.12) and several others. He has published more than 100 papers in international and national academic journals, more than 50 of which have been included in SCI/EI. He is the co-author of 7 monographs, including 5 in English, and formulated 20 local standards of Shanxi Province.
